This post brought to you by the Samsung Galaxy S8, Buy our shit please, this one won't explode we promise.

So given that Samsung's new phone can be put on a special dock that links to a tv/Monitor and then lets the phone run a special desktop version of Android that turns it into a 'Desktop Experience.' I was wondering what you guys want out of your smartphones. This site doesn't get a lot of gadget talk and I would like to try and fix that.

Personally I think the 'Desktop Experience' idea is great, Samsung isn't the first to do this but they are the first to really push it and have partnered with MS to optimise the Android versions of MS Office for the Phone's Desktop mode. Given that the Dock contains a USB port you could put a wireless Mouse/Keyboard on it and type stuff at home and read over/edit stuff on your phone while out or at work without needing to carry around a Laptop like I currently do.

Ultimatley I would like a phone that the entire front part of it is an edgless screen. Or heck, OLED screens are now thin and fairly flexible. Imagine if they can make that even more flexible you could have a roll up screen between two rigid pieces that would hold the hardware and battery; call it the iScroll or something. Also a projector on the back would be pretty sweet.

Having had a smartwatch for a few months now I'd love some more features for a Smartwatch, but I think most of what I want is already available, just not with the Android-to-IOS set up I currently have. Heck I'd be super happy with more weable tech in general; I remember reading years ago about moving fabrics in clothes being able to generate a current that could charge or power devices (That may have been in Shadowrun though) why don't we have that yet?

I want an Omni-tool.

Cell phones are a thing of the past, smart-watches are fad!

To answer your question, I'm in agreement with you on the desktop features being a good addition. Hopefully it adds up to something better in a few years.

Imagine a phone that's just a thin piece of glass that you whip out and it does everything.

That would really be the ideal. Give me one device that can interface with anything, either wired or wireless. I know it probably won't ever replace a dedicated Gaming PC or Console but I should be able to make calls, send message, browse the bet, create content and do productivity stuff through a single device that I alwys have on me.

I want a smartphone that fits in my pocket, doesn't break my wallet, and doesn't break itself.

Handbrains are already capable of most anything. Now it's just a matter of time before they take on the role of everything from computer to television. They're already our maps, calculators, mediators, memory storage units, soundtracks, and phones.

I'm just happy if my phone can text and call.

My phone fits my pockets fine and I have a 6s+. You must have tiny ass pockets lol.

I agree on price, the bug two are pretty expensive. Companies like Sony and Huawei make good Android phones for waaay cheaper than Samsung and Apple.

I for one am happy to have a phone that replaces lots of my existing devices.

The cheapest ones are usually a few iterations back, but they tend to still work just fine.
